With a heavy heart: Tips are gone

August 24th, 2006 at 01:10 am

After reading a few comments, and a thread on the boards, let alone a few emails I received. I'm going to go with the minority.

I won't be writing the tips anymore. My goal when I started doing that was not to annoy or irritate anyone. But was to round out things not only for myself, but for those learning about couponing, and that spot has been covered very well by flash and gsg. Although the detail I went into was appreciated by most of you, I do not want to annoy others as well!

So I've been thinking on this all evening, and have decided that I will take the tips portion out of my blog, and will go back to only blogging about my general stuff. If anyone ever has any questions about stuff, please feel free to email me!

Sorry to hear that. It's too bad that you got comments that led you to decide to eliminate your tips. I for one found them useful as a coupon newbie.

This is a blog. You can write about anything you want to. I say keep the tips and if people don't want to read them they don't have to!

Your blog has received 6458 visits and 75 comments. You're obviously doing something right.

Hey, you're contributing. Don't let a couple of negative opinions sway you from doing what you believe in. Nobody can hope to please all 6458 visitors, so don't sweat the small stuff. Wink

Please write as you wish. We have made the changes so no matter how many posts you make, it will not affect others. Like I have been saying, a blog is a personal writing area and you can do it however best suits you.

I liked reading what you have to say. I wish you wouldn't let it make you change what you are doing.

This is speaking from my non-censoring library lady mode but nobody has a lock on information yet! Write about what you want to write about as often as you want to write about it!! It's called Freedom of Speech - just do it!! If Congress can't do, why are you letting someone else squelch you?? Express thyself!

    Bill of Rights
    Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Please post as you wish. I believe blogs are personal reflection of who we are, and if you choose to write tips, then feel free do so. Of all the things we have to worry about in our life, of all the things in life that we're told that we can or can not do, please don't let blogs be one of them.

Write about what you want. I think that you write for yourself first -- what you want to say and how you want to say it. Let people decide for themselves if they want to read it. So if you want to write about tips, then do it.

Mika, Mika, Mika...we have had TOO MANY heavy hearts on these blogs this month!

Write what you love and feel. Part of the adjustment to change is probably going from personal journals accounting for personal finances last year, to the open forum blogs this year. It's no longer a small group of people documenting their progress for their own use.

We do cover things on GCG...but as I PM'd yesterday, it would be great if you could tell us how things personally affect you. We have a detailed article on evaluating stores, checking their coupon policies...but when you did this for yourself, what did you find? I learn so much from others...Jenn taught me about Target, and their low prices on groceries have blown me away...and they take coupons! So does Home Depot! Do you have some additional tips that we should add to the site? As I said, I would love to have you as a partner in educating people on how to make the deals. Some of your tips would make great ARTICLES, not just blogs!

We do have forums on the regular site where people can interactively discuss things, too, rather than bouncing being conversations on blogs. I'm a bit surprised how few bloggers get to the site, and how few site members get to the blogs. But, being in crisis mode myself this month, I understand quite well.

I've been pondering this myself today...I was going to write about how to make a butterfly garden for free, as gardening is my passion. But, the post would not be for my edification, so maybe it's not something to share. Other people are better gardeners than I am. Tips aren't always appreciated. But, it's YOUR space, so claim it and lighten your load.

I enjoyed reading your blogs. From reading your replies on this post,it sounds like others did too. Why obilge the minority? I read one of those comments on your replies after your coupon blog,my thought at the time was someone has a big ego and I kind of lost respect for that blogger. Hope you keeping tipping away, you have a lot to offer!
